The government pays for a meaningful slice of a heat pump retrofit, but only if it's done right, by the right contractor, in the right order. Here's how it works.
The rule that disqualifies more rebates than any other.
Your installer must be registered in the Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) before you sign the quote. Sign with an unregistered contractor and the rebate is denied, with no appeal and no paperwork that fixes it afterward.
This applies across every program: CleanBC Better Homes, BC Hydro, FortisBC and the Energy Savings Program. Check any contractor, including us, against the official HPCN registry.

Amounts depend on what you're heating with today, your household income, and which programs you can stack. These are indicative figures. We confirm your exact eligibility before quoting.
Standard stream
For homes moving off electric-resistance heat (baseboards or an electric furnace) to a qualifying heat pump. Not income-tested.
Income-qualified stream
For eligible low- and moderate-income households switching from gas, oil or propane. Roughly $5,000 for homes coming off electric or wood heat.
Stacked
Combining CleanBC with BC Hydro, FortisBC and federal programs, including related electrical upgrades. Few households qualify for the maximum.

Permits pulled, install completed to program technical standards, and the documentation submitted so the rebate actually lands.
